The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands on, forward looking professional to join Canada Gas Portfolio Management team in the domain of Planning Intelligence & Automation. Reporting directly to the Manager, Portfolio Design & Optimization, this role will design, prototype, implement, and scale agentic AI and automation solutions that improve how portfolio work is planned, optimized, governed, and reported. Working horizontally across Long Term Portfolio Planning (LTPP), Portfolio Design & Optimization (PDO), and Portfolio Enablement (PE), you will translate business processes into practical digital workflows. You will partner closely with the PE Lead on process ownership, controls, workflow requirements, and adoption, and with the PDO Data Lead on data architecture, integration, quality, and analytics. This role will automate high volume, repeatable work while preserving human accountability for portfolio prioritization, risk acceptance, funding, and other consequential decisions. The successful candidate will combine practical AI delivery, data fluency, and strong stakeholder engagement to create measurable improvements in capacity, quality and cycle time.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and deploy agentic AI and workflow automation solutions that coordinate tasks, retrieve and reconcile information, route approvals, generate draft outputs, and escalate exceptions to accountable decision makers.
  • Lead process refinements across LTPP, PDO, and PE, converting manual handoffs, system entry, reconciliation, reporting, and status tracking into governed, measurable workflows.
  • Partner with the PE Lead to define process requirements, controls, approval points, exception paths, and adoption plans; partner with the PDO Data Lead on data models, integration, quality and analytics.
  • Deliver priority use cases spanning project initiation and Decision Summary review; PPM/AFE and funding workflows; Portfolio Health reporting; intake/readiness checks; outage facilitation.
  • Connect structured and unstructured information across enterprise platforms using APIs, connectors, low code tools, scripting, and AI services while respecting security, privacy, records management, and access requirements.
  • Design human in the loop controls so AI supports, but does not independently make funding, risk, prioritization, outage, or portfolio approval decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, with 5–10 years of overall progressive industry experience, including meaningful exposure to AI, data, digital solutions, automation, or technology enabled process improvement. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated experience delivering AI, automation, analytics, process improvement, or digital transformation solutions in a complex business environment.
  • Hands on experience designing and implementing agentic AI, intelligent automation, or workflow solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience translating business processes into workflow requirements, decision rules, controls, exception paths, test cases, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to work with structured and unstructured data and integrate information across enterprise applications using APIs, connectors, low code tools, scripting, or equivalent approaches.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to assess data quality, identify process bottlenecks, and evaluate automation feasibility and value.
  • Understanding of responsible AI, cybersecurity, privacy, access controls, auditability, and human in the loop governance.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business audiences and work effectively across functional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, work iteratively, document solutions, and move concepts from prototype through implementation and adoption.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in portfolio management, project management, financial planning, asset management, or capital governance processes.
  • Experience in the energy, pipeline, utility, infrastructure, or other regulated and asset intensive sectors.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Power BI, Fabric, Azure AI services, SharePoint, Dataverse, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, AI agent frameworks, prompt design, or model evaluation.
  • Experience developing dashboards, semantic data models, predictive analytics, optimization models, or automated management reporting.
  • Familiarity with project initiation, portfolio intake, risk scoring, cost estimates, funding workflows, outage planning, forecasting, or variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting technology adoption, process standardization, training, or change management across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant credentials in AI, data/analytics, automation, process improvement, project management, or change management.
