August 9–19, Red Deer will become an international destination for creativity, culture, and connection as REACT IMPRO hosts a 10-day international improv intensive featuring 47 participants from more than 15 countries around the world. Chosen specifically as the Canadian host city, Red Deer will welcome artists, performers, and educators traveling from Italy, the United Arab Emirates, India, Iceland, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, Norway, Germany, Singapore, Finland, Peru, and across Canada, to take part in this one-of-a-kind experience. Hosted in partnership by REACT IMPRO and Bull Skit Comedy, the intensive features internationally recognized instructors Patti Stiles, Shawn Kinley, and Steve Jarand, bringing world-class artistic training directly to Central Alberta. CanSkate is Skate Canada’s learn-to-skate program designed for beginners of all ages. Through fun, engaging activities and nationally developed teaching methods, skaters build confidence while developing fundamental skating skills such as balance, control, agility, and coordination. At Momentum Skating Academy, our CanSkate sessions focus on creating a positive, supportive environment where skaters can progress at their own pace. Skills learned in CanSkate provide a strong foundation for figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating, and recreational skating. Recommended for: New skaters and those working on Stage 1–6 skills. What to bring: CSA-approved hockey helmet, skates, gloves or mittens, and warm athletic clothing. Throughout the summer, we are hosting free fitness classes for adults and teenagers (13+) on the deck on the north end of Lot 6. Take part in a high-energy dance fitness class. These classes provide a great opportunity to try new workouts, meet people and enjoy downtown in a new way! Please bring your own mat, no registration required.

2SLGBTQIA+ youth and youth allies aged 13-20 can come to the downtown public library's "green room" every Wednesday from 5:30-8 PM to hang out with their peers. We do board games, crafts, chat, have snacks, watch movies, and whatever you choose for the time. The second Wednesday of each month is in the Cafe room at the Red Deer Museum, same time.
