Current exhibit ( August 18 to October 12 ): Coal in Alberta - A Journey to Obsolescence: Photographs by the Monochrome Guild The Monochrome Guild is a group of film-based photographers founded in Edmonton more than twenty years ago. A small collective within their group have been working since 2015 to document both what remains of the coal industry of the past and contrast it with that of today, and possibly tomorrow. For them, what started as an ideal subject to demonstrate their art form has taken on a much broader emphasis - current affairs! Art may have a wider emphasis in society than its creators first anticipated. This may well apply here; the viewers will decide. First Friday Red Deer Opening: September 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The artists will be in attendance. First Friday Red Deer Opening: October 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For the full list of upcoming exhibits, visit the Red Deer Arts Council's website .
