Nature Uncovered: Yard Magic - Harness Native Plants to Turn Your Yard into an Avian Haven

Mon, Nov 2 · 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Whitemud Crossing · 4211 - 106 Street, Edmonton

Turn your Edmonton yard into a thriving songbird sanctuary! Discover how local native plants provide the essential food, shelter, and insects our resident birds depend on. You will leave with quick, practical steps to swap high-maintenance lawn for native flora and build a low-maintenance paradise that keeps birds coming back year-round. Manna Parseyan has a deep love for nature and a passion for the outdoors. A native plant grower and avid birder, she holds a B.Sc. in Geology and a Master’s in Paleontology. She volunteers with the Edmonton Native Plant Society, gives talks on local flora and gardening with native plants, and actively contributes to the restoration and maintenance of local prairies. Realizing the lack of enough sources of native plants in the Edmonton area, she started her native plant growing business, Arnica Wildflowers, in 2018. The Nature Uncovered Speaker Series brings together experts and enthusiasts to share their research and travel stories about mammals, birds, flowers, and the ecosystems that sustain them. This program is offered in collaboration with the Edmonton Nature Club. Refreshments and socializing will occur from 6:30-7:00pm, with the presentation beginning at 7:00 pm.
