Inspired by his father, an artist himself, Austin discovered photography as a way to preserve moments in time while expressing his unique connection to the world. Working with 35mm colour and black-and-white film, Austin creates layered images through multiple and long exposures. He also experiments by manipulating the film with techniques such as bleaching, scratching, sanding, freezing, and salt water, embracing the unexpected results these processes create. Each photograph is a visual time capsule, capturing not only what Austin sees, but how he experiences the world. His work invites viewers to look beyond a single moment and discover beauty in layers, chance, and transformation. Presented in partnership with Alberta Culture Days
